Abstract:
In one form of high content screening multiple cells are placed into each well and the well is treated. Image analysis methods are used to determine a vector of numbers for each cell within a well. Upon treatment, or even without treatment, multiple types of cells might develop in a well. There can be a mixture of cell types in each well. There is a need to summarize what is going on within a well that takes the mixture nature of the problem into account. Our idea is to use matrix factorization methods to create informative summaries. The advantage of our method is that mixture components will be recognized and not confuse the subsequent treatment effect analysis.
